It’s not just about taking work off my clients’ plates—it’s about learning who they are as a business owner, what they’re passionate about, and how I can make their personality shine throughout their sales content. There are three key creative elements I incorporate in every webpage I write: clear messaging that sparks immediate action, search engine optimization (SEO) and personalized language that’s authentic to YOU. Here’s some of my favorite webpages I wrote the copy for! PatronArt is a company with an exciting new premise: you dream it, we paint it. You fill out a form with your idea for a piece of custom art, and a team of local artists propose their ideas and prices of how to bring it to life.  The difficulty with marketing this novel concept is that it is so new, it isn’t self-explanatory. Custom - [Advertising & Sales Pitches](https://sarahrosewrites.com/advertising-sales-pitches/): Advertising & Sales Pitches   If you like dogs and have ever used the internet, you’ve probably seen a BarkBox ad. Before freelancing, and before working directly with BARK’s retail team, I wrote social media ads for the other side of their business: their monthly dog toy and treat subscription. This usually entailed a lot of quick and quippy jokes, topical theme/partnership references, and clear communication about special offers. When I switched to writing for the retail team, I found a new passion for sales copy in the form of toy collection pitches. The example pitches below were used in - [Sarah Rose Writes - Creative Social Media Content](https://sarahrosewrites.com/social-media-copy/): Social Media Content   When launching my digital marketing career, I specialized exclusively in strategic social media. I found everything about the fast-paced world of social media management to be fascinating. And let me tell you, I learned A LOT when it comes to community building and effective calls to action. Over time, I decided to focus less on graphic design and video editing, and more on my writing and passion for brand voices. The following portfolio pieces are a mix of more recent, exclusively copywriting work, and work from the time when I used to do it all—graphics included. - [Sarah Rose Writes - Creative Copywriting Portfolio](https://sarahrosewrites.com/portfolio/): What Writing Would You Like To See? I combine creative writing with sales strategy to develop personable brand voices that tell your story and sell more products. Before freelancing, I worked for the retail team at BARK. I wrote copy for all stages of the dog toy manufacturing process using the iconic BarkBox voice. That included toy names, product packaging, ads, sales pitches, SEO product descriptions, and (if I had to guess) about 1.2 million dog puns.  Pair that with my education in journalism, and background in digital marketing, and you know I - [Creative Copywriting & Brand Voice Services](https://sarahrosewrites.com/services/): Custom Creative Copywriting Services Pick a project for me to write using your own, personalized brand voice. Brand Voice Creation Find marketing yourself awkward and intimidating? You need a personable brand voice for your business. Sales writing is easier when your small business has a unique persona. You’ll stand out, sell more, and feel relatable to your customers/clients. Ghost-Written Blogs Blogs are a great way to attract the right audience, provide immediate value, and display expertise. Plus, they’re the ultimate tool for top-tier SEO. Don’t have a blog? Here’s five reasons why you need one. Website Copy Amp-up the engagement - [Why You Shouldn't Rely On ChatGPT](https://sarahrosewrites.com/why-me-not-chat-gpt/): It’s a valid question, why should you hire me and not just use ChatGPT? Let me tell ya! Writing great copy is all about catching the fleeting attention of customers by speaking directly to their hearts, minds, and souls. Customers want to feel connected to brands they like and support their business because they support the people behind it.  You’re selling to real people, not to robots. Ever use a chatbot that just skirts around your questions? Or tell ChatGPT to write ten headline options, only for it to spit out the same sentence in various ways? It just doesn’t - [Contact Sarah Rose Writes](https://sarahrosewrites.com/contact/):   Let Me Help      Tell Your Story Schedule A Free Discovery Call Or Coffee Chat With Sarah Rose 👇🏼 - [E-Commerce Product Descriptions](https://sarahrosewrites.com/e-commerce-product-descriptions/): In today’s digital age, it’s important to have product descriptions for every item being sold via e-commerce. For BARK, it’s also important for those descriptions to incorporate as many searchable words as possible for the best SEO, and to not just be plain boring. Dog toys and accessories are meant to be fun!  My e-commerce product descriptions were written to be both searchable and evocative of that excited to play with your dog (and post pictures of them online with their new goodies) type of feeling. - [Digital Advertisements](https://sarahrosewrites.com/digital-advertisements/): My favorite digital advertisements to write with BARK were for exciting partnerships. I composed ad copy for BARK’s mashups with Marvel for a Spider-Man: No Way Home box, and with Rankin/Bass for a Rudolph box plus other gift-with-purchase items. Other fun new member promotion ads I composed included a Halloween “Monster Gnash” bundle and “Chompkin Pie” gift-with-purchase. This copy was used for everything digital from Facebook and Instagram ads to blurbs on the BarkBox.com homepage. - [In-Store Marketing](https://sarahrosewrites.com/in-store-marketing/): When a new dog toy collection hits retail stores, it needs marketing material to draw the consumer’s eye while they shop. Writing copy for this marketing material for BARK proved to be an interesting challenge. I always aimed to add some quirky BARK voice flair to the general “buy now” sentiment, while keeping the call to action clear and succinct. BARK also uses in-store marketing to provide way-finding for consumers who are unsure which type of dog toy would be best for their dog. - [Product Packaging](https://sarahrosewrites.com/product-packaging/): Product Packaging   The majority of my copywriting work for BARK was writing and editing product packaging. Whenever someone asks me what being a creative copywriter entails, it’s these fun bits of copy that incorporate a quirky and unique brand voice (like BARK’s) that I tend to mention. For their product packaging, that copy included the collection name, toy name, product features, and descriptions for each of those items. For product packaging, I also make sure all the less fun (though highly important) copy is included such as safety warnings, happiness guarantees, and legal lines for licensed products. There is - [On-Toy Graphics](https://sarahrosewrites.com/on-toy-graphics/): Working for a dog toy manufacturing company was particularly rewarding when writing the copy to be printed or embroidered directly on a toy. This copy usually included puns based on the toy theme, dogs, or (ideally) both.  The lead-time for toy manufacturing can be extensive so, while I don’t yet have final product images, these are some working designs that incorporate my final on-toy copy. - [Sales Pitches](https://sarahrosewrites.com/sales-pitches/): When pitching a new dog toy collection to retailers for purchase, it’s important to BARK that their collections tell a cohesive story through creative design and copy. A pitch deck is made by the sales team to include all the important businessy bits of the toy collection (product research, MSRPs, etc.) but the introduction page of the presentation is intentionally left blank for the copy team to sprinkle some storytelling magic. That’s where I came in! I ensured the collection name, a few toy names, and a call to action were always included as the informational base of my pitches. Then I focused on developing a sense of place - [Photography](https://sarahrosewrites.com/photography/) - [Disney World Building](https://sarahrosewrites.com/world-building/): The Walt Disney Imagineering Imaginations Competition I have always been an avid Disney fan, but not in the way that everyone expects. I’m not some crazed, pretty-princess as my bubbly demeanor, blonde hair, and impressive pin collection may lead you to believe. I am a storyteller with a love of immersive theatre. Disney doesn’t just write stories that touch your heart. They build worlds where you can be a part of the story yourself. That’s why when I was presented the opportunity to enter a world-building competition led by Walt Disney Imagineering, I jumped in head first. Founded in 1991 - [Journalism](https://sarahrosewrites.com/journalism/): Since I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, it likely will not be a shock to you that I’ve written many news articles! These are a few of my favorites with varying topics. There’s a foreign correspondence piece featuring sources from India that I contacted myself, a published feature article about the local tradition of Rocky Horror in Athens Ohio, and a review of a production of Urinetown. (Fun fact about me: I am an avid theatre nerd with a love of working behind the scenes!) The Migrant Workers Of India Foreign Correspondence This article was part of my foreign - [Graphic Design](https://sarahrosewrites.com/graphic-design/): PatronArt – Facebook Banners & General Content PatronArt is a company with an exciting new premise: you dream it, we paint it. As part of my role as Social Media Marketing Specialist, I created graphics and digital newsletters to help explain our premise, as well as cultivate our growing online community. O’Keeffe - [Sarah Rose Writes - Creative Copywriting](https://sarahrosewrites.com/copywriting/): Working for BARK meant endless dog puns all day, every day! My creative content was used for all stages of the retail dog toy manufacturing process. This included sales pitches, on-toy graphics, product packaging, in-store marketing, digital advertisements, and e-commerce product descriptions incorporating search engine optimization (SEO). - [Client Blogs & Magazine Articles](https://sarahrosewrites.com/blog/): Client Blogs & Magazine Articles Blogs and magazine articles are some of my favorite pieces to write. They have a wide spectrum of variation, from very raw and personal to highly polished and informational. Which certainly keeps my job interesting! Always a journalist at heart, I love learning new things and packaging my findings into useful articles for others to absorb. Blogs are the perfect place for businesses to both display expertise in their field, and showcase their personality. Not to mention they make excellent marketing funnels when you incorporate SEO strategies, which I always do.
